Workshop: Slaysian Drag from Head to Toe

Thursday, April 2, 2026
7 – 9PM

Have you always dreamed of getting into drag but don’t know where to start? Whether you’re a total beginner, a drag enthusiast, or just curious to play, this workshop is for you! Slaysian Drag from Head to Toe is an AAPI-centered introduction to the art of drag, celebrating queer Asian voices, faces, and bodies while breaking away from Western drag norms.

Led by drag artist Shia Ho, founder of Made in Asia, the largest AAPI drag festival in the U.S., and multimedia artist Lauren Auyeung (LORAIYA), this hands-on session will guide participants through the essentials:

  • History of Drag
  • Drag Makeup that complements your unique features
  • Wig Styling that frames your fantasy
  • Silhouette Building that highlights your natural proportions
  • Building your persona and finding your inner diva/divo
  • Q&A with Shia Ho

Come ready to experiment, laugh, and connect with the community. Make-up and supplies will be provided — no prior experience needed! Plus, as a workshop participant, you’ll get exclusive access to sign up for A4’s Drag Night/Variety Show on June 4 at Red Pavilion (more details coming soon).

This event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required. To help keep our programs free, there is a suggested donation of $10. Capacity is limited.

Accessibility: A4 is located on the 9th floor with elevators that are wheelchair accessible. Restrooms are for all genders and also wheelchair accessible.

If you require any accommodations including ASL interpretation, language translation, or large print, please email programs@aaartsalliance.org at least one week before the event. We will do our best to accommodate.

Recordings:
The workshop will be recorded and uploaded to A4’s YouTube channel afterwards.
