White Phoenix is an epic family drama spanning 1980 to 1993. Twin siblings Li CunYi and Li CunXin are separated as children in a Chinese orphanage. CunYi rises through the ranks of the Communist Party alongside his fiancée, Zhao YanYan, while CunXin crosses the Pacific and becomes “Annie Bradford,” the adopted daughter of a US Senator. When the twins’ paths collide again, their reunion becomes a mirror for the tangled, intimate, and often troubling relationship between China and America.
