Herok: Strata of Time at ELOREA
Civil Art is proud to share recent milestones from Herok and Andrius Alvarez-Backus, two emerging artists we have had the pleasure of supporting through Art House, Civil Art’s Emerging Artist Leadership Program.
Last week, with the support of Civil Art’s community, Herok unveiled Strata of Time, the artist’s first solo presentation at ELOREA. The exhibition brings together Korean artist Herok and ELOREA in a shared exploration of time, memory, and the ways stories unfold through layers.
Working with hanji, traditional Korean paper made from mulberry bark, along with paint, Herok builds and carves back each surface through a repetitive, intuitive process. The resulting works hold traces of movement and experience, where time is not simply depicted, but embedded.
Extending this dialogue, a special work created in response to ELOREA’s new bottle reflects on time as both structured and fluid. Inspired by the bottle’s hourglass form and material language, the piece deepens the exhibition’s meditation on memory, form, and transformation.
The exhibition is open to the public from April 2 to June 30.
