Mirage No Wana
7 – 8PM
Asian American Arts Alliance’s 2024 Jadin Wong Fellow Kanon Sugino will be presenting a dance work performed by an all Japanese cast. Mirage no Wana is an exploration of Japanese culture, heritage, language, societal norms, body image, and mental health, portraying the multidimensionality of the culture and its people. Amidst the richness and beauty of Japan is a concealed toxic and self-deprecating culture. This work seeks to recognize both the light and shadow of the Japanese cultural identity to allow for a call for compassion and a deeper understanding of the multifaceted Japanese experience. Mirage no Wana will not only feature Japanese dancers but also a Japanese Traditional Wadaiko (drum) player, as well as Japanese artisans who will be showcasing their work available for purchase before the performance.
