1:30pm Argentinian Folk with Silvana Brizuela Weigel
Step into the world of Tango! Learn the basic steps and embrace the joy of this iconic dance with Silvana Brizuela Weigel. Connect with partners, explore the rhythm, and have fun building your foundation. Perfect for beginners, no experience necessary!
2:30pm Flamenco basics and castanets with Flamenco Latino
The Sevillanas is a 6-beat folk dance from Seville that has been flamenco-ized and Included in current flamenco repertoire of all major Flamenco dance companies. In this class we will learn the components of the First Sevillanas. We’ll learn the Basic Sevillanas step, how to cross with your partner; La Pasada, and lastly the alternating pasada. After we have learned the steps we will try to do them opposite a partner.
3:00-4:00pm Open Dance Floor with Queens live musical guest PÚYALOAHÍ, a Sunnyside-based collective dedicated to the sounds and rhythms of Colombia’s traditional cumbia music of Gaitas and Tambores. Music by and for the people!
