LMCC Art Grant - Sleeve Lines

Sleeve Lines 袖谱 is a new full-length contemporary dance work by Miaotian Sun and Valkyrie Yao, presented by QIAA and supported by the 2026 LMCC Manhattan Arts Grants. Rooted in Chinese classical and folk dance but contemporary in its voice, the work unfolds in two parts. 袖 Sleeve moves from bare, working hands, shaped by labor, care, and scrutiny, to silk sleeves that hide, extend, and connect the body. 谱 Score turns to lineage, language, and naming, asking how the systems we use to order the world also leave things out. Bridging the two, Sleeve Lines explores what the body carries across migration and memory, and what gets written down.
