Brooklyn FAM 2022: 2nd Annual Festival of Arts and Music

Sunday, October 2, 2022
10:30 – 2PM

Catch a fantastic lineup of performances, dance and steel pan workshops, and art-making at Brooklyn FAM’s free, 2nd annual, family-friendly flagship event on the east side of Prospect Park. Swing by the Concert Grove Pavilion for Afro-modern MATHETA Dance, South African trumpeter Lesedi Ntsane’s jazz trio, Tropical Fête’s Caribbean steel pan, and Chinese Theatre Works’s hand puppet theatre, followed by a festive procession with large-scale lion and dragon puppets recently exhibited at the Museum of New York. Festgoers will be invited to join the fanfare with instruments and ribbons. Learn how to animate the procession puppets!

Throughout the festival, try your hand (feet!) at Chinese hacky sack and jump rope with new friends at the gaming table, and make your mark on a vibrant collaborative public art project. Led by Brooklyn-based artist Annie Del Hierro, the Chair Project invites everyone to magazine collage on upcycled wooden chairs and benches to the question “What does FAMily mean to you, to us?” The finished pieces will be installed at local businesses and gathering places as cool functional seating to spark new conversations about connection and community.

Reserve FREE tickets to guarantee priority access to workshops under the pavilion roof. Follow us on Instagram @bklyn_fam for program reveals!
