Organizational Summary:
Playwrights Horizons is a writer’s theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary playwrights, composers and lyricists, and to the production of their new work.

Reports to:
Head House Manager/Asst. Company Manager and General Management.

Position Summary:
The House Manager position provides exceptional customer service to all Playwrights Horizons audience members. They are a front-line team member, regularly interacting with customers and providing for their needs. House Managers are expected to represent Playwrights Horizons and its values. This is a part-time position requiring day, evening, and weekend shifts. HM’s can expect to be offered an average of 10-20 hours per week during the season. Our upcoming season begins October 13!

Duties & Responsibilities:
As House Manager, you are responsible for the smooth operation of the house during the run of the show. This Includes:
● Conducting a fire safety check at the start of every shift.
● Making sure the theater is suitable for patrons.
● Capacity to operate scanners
● Efficiently execute a safe ingress & egress
● Overseeing the safety and well-being of our patrons before, during, and immediately after the show.
● Answering patrons questions, listening to compliments/concerns, and making every guest feel welcome.
● Routinely training volunteer ushers.
● Maintaining a positive attitude, professional demeanor, and a genuine interest in helping others.
● The ability to make quick and on your feet decisions.
● Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
● 1-3 years of Front of House experience
An updated and valid F-03 Fireguard License. CPR license is a plus! But not required.
● Basic knowledge of tickets system
● Ability to maintain consistent part-time schedule, covering evening and weekend shifts
● Love of theater – and sense of humor – a must!

Compensation:
$21 per hour, with an average of 10-20 hours per week during production season.
