Organizational Summary:
Playwrights Horizons is a writer’s theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary U.S. playwrights, composers and lyricists, and to the production of their new work.

Reports to:
Box Office Manager

Position Summary:
The Box Office Associate position provides exceptional customer service to all Playwrights Horizons audience members. The Associate is a front-line team member, regularly interacting with customers and providing for their needs. As part of this team, the Associate will represent the quality Playwrights Horizons exemplifies. This is a part-time position requiring day, evening, and weekend shifts. Associates can expect to be offered an average of 10-20 hours per week during the producing season.

Duties & Responsibilities:
● Assist customers with purchase decisions, and resolve customer conflicts with guidance from Box Office Manager as needed
● Handle performance load-in, walk-up sales, and distribution of Will Call tickets, troubleshooting any day-of-show issues in a professional
manner
● Check customer records and identification in accordance with current institutional protocols
● Maintain knowledge of productions, ticket offerings, and policies
● Collect complete and accurate data from customers, ensuring quality data maintenance
● Process phone and in-person orders using the Tessitura CRM platform
● Follow proper cash handling procedures and reconcile daily transactions
● Maintain a positive attitude, professional demeanor, and a genuine interest in helping others
● Contribute to the environment of the box office in a manner that is conducive to customer service, equity, and safety
● Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
● 1-2 years of prior box office experience, preferably in a performing arts or live entertainment setting; other customer service experience a plus
● Knowledge of ticketing systems, specifically Tessitura, strongly preferred
● Ability to maintain consistent part-time schedule, covering evening and weekend shifts
● Love of theater – and sense of humor – a must!

Compensation:
$20 per hour based upon experience, with average of 10-20 hours per week during production season
