Signature Theatre, one of New York’s leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a CONTENT STRATEGIST for The Pershing Square Signature Center on West 42nd Street.

Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre celebrates playwrights and gives them an artistic home, producing six to eight productions annually. In 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. In 2012, Signature opened The Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.

Position Summary
Signature is seeking a curious and data-driven Content Strategist to join the Marketing Team during a pivotal time as we launch a new brand and visual identity. If you have passion for mission-driven marketing fueled by insights and strategy—and are tech savvy —this role is ideal for you.

The Content Strategist develops strategic course and executes campaigns on all channels, responsible for managing a collaborative, multiplatform content calendar. They will be a voice of strategy and be an advocate for efficiency and integration among other team members and departments, ensuring our work considers insights and strategic execution while aiming toward mission- and value-driven goals.


  • Oversee content strategy for all campaigns, informed by insight development and brand strategy fundamentals
  • Work closely with Content Producer to develop content strategy to optimize media delivery for online distribution
  • Work closely with Development to provide strategy and execution support for all fundraising campaigns
  • Manage all email marketing campaigns and list segmentation
  • Develop and execute advertising media plan for each production
  • Lead research and develop strategic course for collaborative development of integrated content calendar
  • Maintain key relationships and workflow with digital media management consultants
  • Develop content for organic and paid media on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, display advertisement, paid search and SEO, in collaboration with marketing team and digital consultants
  • Manage all paid campaign financial tracking and invoice payment
  • Help facilitate efficient review processes for all content: UX testing, copy editing and providing design feedback for all content pieces
  • Conduct quarterly analysis and presentation of digital metrics for all channels
  • Spearhead execution of rebrand launch campaign and oversee brand continuity for all content
  • Manage content on all Signature’s web sites
  • Spearhead the development of new website functionality and website maintenance with web developers
  • Maintain content updates and edits on current website
  • Develop and implement content strategy for all digital signage at The Pershing Square Signature Center
  • Work closely with Communicates & Engagement marketing team member to integrate community engagement and audience development goals into all campaigns

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite’s InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator
  • Experience in Lightroom, Premiere and/or After Effects a plus.
  • Proficiency in website content management systems. Experience with Kentico is a plus.
  • Experience with Google Marketing Platform’s Analytics and/or Tag Manager
  • Experience with HTML/CSS web or email design. Experience with Wordfly is a plus.
  • Experience with customer relationship management software. Experience with Tessitura is a plus.
  • Experience with DSLR photography is a plus.
  • Experience with project management software a plus.

This is a full-time salaried exempt position. Annual salary is $60,000.

Desired Experience

  • 2-4 years’ related marketing experience
  • Experience at an agency, nonprofit or cultural institution
  • Well-rounded understanding of brand strategy and digital strategy
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills
