SURRENDERED — African Premiere at Observatory Film Festival

SURRENDERED will have its African premiere at the Observatory Film Festival in Cape Town, South Africa.

The experimental short by Filipina-Canadian filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist Marie-Josée Desharnais explores psychological pressure, dissociation, memory, and survival. Working through fragmented imagery, repetition, archival material, digital compositing, restrained narration, and sound, the film approaches cinema as a sensory and embodied form rather than a conventional narrative.

Independently produced and financed, SURRENDERED is Desharnais’s first short film.
