Movement Workshop with Soomi Kim & Dax Valdes

Join Soomi Kim and Dax Valdes for their inaugural movement workshop, an all-levels space for artists across disciplines — theatre makers, directors, actors, dancers, and beyond. Through guided prompts and somatic exercises, they’ll explore how to translate text into movement and gesture, building a physical vocabulary that can expand into performance.

Led by Soomi Kim (she/her), an award-winning actor and dance theatre maker whose work spans text, movement, and multimedia, and Dax Valdes (he/him), an actor, movement director, and facilitator working at the intersection of arts, social justice, and education. Dax is also a performer in Soomi’s current project in development, GUT (굿).

Drawing from their shared devising process, language becomes movement and gesture in their work — unfolding as another form of storytelling.
