Highlight is a reading series designed to showcase the work of playwrights of Middle Eastern, Southwest Asian, and North African descent. The 11th Highlight Reading Series includes a reading of “LIKE THIS” by 2024 Van Lier Fellow in Theater Borna Barzin.

About LIKE THIS
An East Coast couple embarks on a romantic getaway to Kaivon’s grandmother’s home in Half Moon Bay, California. But their supposedly secret rendezvous quickly unravels into a comedy of errors, as they’re swept into the chaos of Kaivon’s eccentric and dysfunctional family. Inspired by the mystic love poems of the ancient Persian poet Rumi—with a nod to Shakespeare—this surreal journey brims with heightened emotions, unexpected twists, and pure magic.
