Big Fight in Little Chinatown: Screening & Panel
3:30 – 6PM PT
Join for a free community screening of the award-winning documentary Big Fight in Little Chinatown, followed by a panel discussion focused on civic engagement, advocacy, and community development.
The film, directed by Karen Cho, highlights the efforts of Chinatown communities across North America as they resist gentrification, displacement, and cultural erasure. It’s a timely and urgent story about the power of collective action and the importance of preserving cultural heritage in rapidly changing cities.
Following the screening, a panel of local community leaders, advocates, and scholars will discuss how the themes of the film resonate in our own community. Together, we’ll explore:
- The history and presence of Chinatowns in Nevada
- Challenges and opportunities in community development
- The role of civic engagement and representation in shaping state and local policies
- Advocacy and how communities can organize for change
- Leadership development across public, private, and community sectors
- Strategies for building sustainable, empowered communities
This event is an opportunity to learn, connect, and engage in meaningful dialogue about how we can support and strengthen diverse communities in Southern Nevada and beyond.
