Bandung 2024-25 Residency Information Session

Tuesday, April 23, 2024
12 – 1PM

The Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) and The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) are pleased to present The Bandung 2024-25 Residency, a year-long Residency program designed to uplift the work of artists, organizers, educators, and waymakers interested in engaging in social justice discourse, restorative healing, place-based cultural practices, expanding the narrative and deepening understanding between communities, and promoting cross-community allyship, whether for personal transformation and/or in service to the AAPI and Black communities.

Lisa Gold, Executive Director of A4 and Amy Andrieux, Executive Director + Chief Curator of MoCADA will present a pre-submission information session on Tuesday, April 23 from 12-1pm ET. The session will discuss the vision of the program and review the guidelines and best practices to submit an application for participation.

If you have any questions or accessibility needs, please email jlee@aaartsalliance.org. We will try our best to accommodate.

Please note: The session will be recorded and uploaded to A4’s YouTube channel after the event. We plan to send a link to the recording to all registrants.

For this Residency, 7-10 NYC-based visionaries will be selected as Residents by a panel of independent reviewers to participate in a year-long hybrid program consisting of structured, self-directed, and group learning exchanges that introduce community leaders embedded in this social justice work, propel forward the spirit of solidarity crystalized during the 1960s and ‘70s, center the historical and contemporary issues faced by AAPI and Black communities, while enabling the deepening of each participant’s relationship with themselves, their practice, other participants within the cohort, and most especially with the communities identified.

The residency is named for the groundbreaking 1955 summit held in Bandung, Indonesia, bringing together leaders from 29 newly independent Asian and African states emerging from colonial rule, with the aim of ending racial discrimination and ensuring collaboration and a peaceful coexistence.
