The Voices of Connection Digital Content Curator and Producer is a new role, working directly with the Voices of Ascension Artistic Administrator and Programs team. It is a temporary part-time grant-funded position through June 30, 2022.

Voices of Connection was launched as a daily email gift of choral music from Voices of Ascension and Dennis Keene on March 30, 2020, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. VoC has grown to include guest curators with varied musical interests and expertise, guest ensembles, and solo and chamber music performances by Voices ensemble members. VoC has been sent daily through the pandemic era, generating more than 200,000 YouTube views during the 2020-2021 season.

As live performance returns, the Voices of Connection Curator and Producer is charged with evaluating and updating the current VoC catalog, developing newly recorded ensemble content, cultivating additional guest curators and diverse choral traditions, and analyzing listener/viewer data to help determine the long-term role of free and / or ticketed digital content for Voices audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Continue to post daily or periodic (2-3x/week) VoC (email, website, social media)
  • Review current (existing) VoC assets
  • Sort into VoA / guest / reusable / retire categories
  • Review and edit any texts which need to be updated post-pandemic
  • Review newly recorded Voices of Ascension A/V assets not yet posted
  • Sort into usable / unusable categories
  • Write intro blurbs as appropriate
  • Establish VoC calendar through 6/30/22 to support Voices concerts, events, holidays, world events
  • Oversee recording of fresh VoC content by Voices artists (chamber ensemble and VoA choral concerts) - partner with Artistic team for quality control
  • Coordinate/hire audio only or A/V recording teams
  • Work within established budgets
  • Schedule artists, venues, recording sessions
  • Deliver finished content on schedule
  • Recruit additional guest curators whose expertise / background illuminates a variety of standard and non-standard choral music from within and beyond the Western classical canon
  • Explore and understand the audience for Voices digital content including VoC emails
  • Track and analyze listener statistics and open rates on multiple social media channels and digital analytics platforms
  • Assess VoC qualities: free, mobile, digital, on-demand, direct email to develop new and expanded audiences
  • Identify / develop partnerships with education / senior / social service providers to reach a broader audience

Requirements

Qualities required:

  • Professional musician with a comprehensive knowledge of choral music and a broad musical network
  • Self-starter who is also a collaborative team player
  • Exceptional capacity for project management, with accurate and timely work completion
  • Exceptional organizational, musical and technical recording, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to acquire information quickly, manage multiple priorities, and reach successful outcomes, being sure to “close the loop” on projects and reporting
  • 5 years professional experience producing, presenting, performing and/or communicating about classical, preferably choral and vocal, music
