Position Overview
Civil Art is seeking a Video & Media Production Intern for the Fall 2025 semester. This position is ideal for students interested in film, editing, digital storytelling, and the visual arts. The intern will support Civil Art’s programs by producing engaging video content, including panel talks, exhibition walkthroughs, and social media clips that spotlight the work of API artists and cultural producers. While this is an unpaid internship, students will receive school credit and—most importantly—mentorship, professional development, and access to a thriving community of API creatives and industry professionals.

Key Responsibilities
- Video Production & Editing: Film and edit videos for virtual and in-person programs, including artist talks, panels, and exhibition walkthroughs.
- Social Media Content Creation: Develop short-form video content (e.g. reels, stories, teasers) to support program promotion across social media platforms.
- Post-Production: Manage editing timelines, incorporate motion graphics or subtitles when needed, and export content in required formats.
- Archival Support: Organize and maintain an archive of video assets for internal use and external promotion.
- General Support: Participate in team meetings, contribute to brainstorming sessions, and assist with administrative tasks related to video and content production.

What You’ll Gain
- Mentorship from Civil Art’s team.
- Real-world experience in nonprofit arts video production and media strategy.
- Portfolio-worthy video content that supports exhibitions, artist projects, and community programs.
- Networking connections with API artists, curators, and cultural organizations across the U.S.
- Access to Civil Art’s community, resources, and creative network.
- Potential opportunities post-internship (ex. Civil Art is collaborating with Christie’s in 2026 to produce a major exhibition, fundraiser, and conference).

Requirements

  • Students pursuing degrees in Film, Media Studies, Communications, Art, or a related field are preferred but not required.
  • Strong video editing skills and prior editing experience are required.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable filming and editing content independently.
  • Strong sense of visual storytelling and a passion for the arts—especially in ways that resonate with API communities.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Passionate about amplifying API voices in the arts.
