About Civil Art
Civil Art is a nonprofit organization that provides opportunities, resources, and education for advancing the API community by serving as a nexus for interdisciplinary collaborations. Civil Art is fiscally sponsored by (Players Philanthropy Fund) 501©3 nonprofit organization.

Position Overview
Civil Art is seeking an Exhibition and Programming Intern for the Fall 2025 semester. This position is ideal for students interested in art, art administration, and cultural organizing who want hands-on experience in exhibition production, event coordination, curation, and nonprofit arts administration. While this is an unpaid internship, students will receive school credit and—most importantly—mentorship, professional development, and access to a thriving community of API artists, creatives, and industry professionals.

Key Responsibilities
- Exhibition/Event Coordination: Liaising with artists, galleries, institutions, or other venues to support pre-production and production.
- Registrar: Manage and maintain records of artworks, sponsorships, and exhibition/event-related information.
- Educational Event: Research and identify API artists with current exhibitions for potential social media features and collaborations.
- Newsletter Maintenance: Support upkeep and updates for Civil Art’s audiences.
- Database Management: Organize and update internal project databases, keeping information clear and accessible.
- General Support: Participate in team meetings, contribute to brainstorming sessions, and assist with day-to-day administrative tasks.

What You’ll Gain
- Mentorship from Civil Art’s team.
- Hands-on experience in nonprofit arts administration and event management.
- Opportunities to expand your professional portfolio with real-world projects.
- Networking connections with API artists, curators, and cultural organizations across the U.S.
- Access to Civil Art’s community, resources, and creative network.
- Potential opportunities post-internship (ex. Civil Art is collaborating with Christie’s in 2026 to produce a major exhibition, fundraiser, and conference).

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (school credit required).
  • Students pursuing degrees in Art History or Arts Management are preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), Google Workspace, and presentation platforms such as Pitch (or similar) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Passionate about amplifying API voices in the arts.
