Writers, visual artists, and composers are invited to apply for Fall 2022 residencies at Mt. San Angelo in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Residencies will be scheduled between September 1 and December 31, 2022.

In residence, all VCCA Fellows are provided with a private individual studio, a private bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and three meals a day meals in a community of cross-disciplinary artists. During residencies lasting anywhere from two weeks to two months, VCCA Fellows are free to work at their own pace in quiet, spacious, light-filled studios, just a short walk from their residence overlooking the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Significant financial assistance is available year-round.

The following fully-funded fellowship opportunities are included in the application for Fall 2022 residencies.

🔶 Alonzo Davis Fellowship: American writers, visual artists, and composers of African and/or Latin American descent are eligible for a fully-funded two-week residency with $500 honorarium.

🔶 Mid Atlantic Arts Creative Fellowships: Applicants who live in Delaware, Maryland, New York, and West Virginia will automatically be considered for fully-funded two-week or one-month residencies supported by the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.

🔶 Sara Pennypacker Fellowship: Composers whose focus is on creating substantive work for children are eligible for a fully-funded two-week residency with $500 stipend.

🔶 Steven Petrow LGBTQ Fellowship: Writers who self-identify as LGBTQ are eligible for a fully-funded two-week residency.

🔶 Richard S. and Julia Louise Reynolds Poetry Fellowship: Poets are eligible for a fully-funded three-week residency.

🔶 Marian Treger Fellowship for Enduring Creativity: Female-identifying fiction writers, screenwriters, or visual artists, emerging in mid-life and beyond, whose creative paths may have been hindered by chronic health conditions or disabilities are eligible for a fully-funded two-week residency with $400 stipend.

VCCA encourages applications to Mt. San Angelo from artists representing the widest possible range of perspectives. Emerging and established artists may apply in the following disciplines: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, playwriting and screenwriting, performance, film and video, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, installation art, music composition, and cross-disciplinary art. Applicants who are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral programs are eligible to apply, although projects that involve pure academic scholarship are not accepted.
