Set Designer for Chashama Gala 2025: Dreamscape

This year Chashama is asking artists to make dreams come to life: whether good, bad, flying, and falling. Their Gala is a free-flowing, fantastical art experience featuring 300 performers and a labyrinth of interactive installations. This year’s event will leave you dazzled and inspired, as they celebrate the artists and creatives who make the city go ‘round.

The Gala draws 3000+ attendees who will experience and engage with your design as they make their way through the space and choose their own dreamscape adventure at this year’s event.

Who Chashama is looking for:
A Set Designer to transform the communal spaces of their two-story, 10,000 square foot gala venue into immersive dreamscapes.

The Set Designer will be responsible for the conceptualization of the set design and the fabrication/installation of all set elements, with the assistance of the ChaShaMa gala production team. They will also work alongside and collaborate with a Lighting Designer hired by ChaShaMa.

Please submit a proposal that visually outlines your interpretation of the Dreamscape theme, along with a brief artist statement, your resume, and 3-5 examples of your previous work.

Thursday, June 26th (6pm-12am)
Saturday, June 28th (9pm-3am)
Location: 205 East 42nd Street, 5th & 6th floors

Compensation for this project is $8,000
All fabrication materials will be provided/purchased by ChaShaMa with a budget of $7,000 for materials. You will also have access to donated and free resources via MFTA and various vendors.
