Quilting Workshop Assistant

Seeking teaching assistant for quilting workshops at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center as part of a project to quilt a queer archive of Brooklyn from September to November 2026. Workshops will likely take place in the early evenings on either Wednesday or Friday. Looking for at least 8 hours of support at $45/hour, with potential for additional hours.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with setup and breakdown of quilting workshops.
- Support instructor with sewing demonstrations and drawing/collage exercises
- Support workshop participants in sewing

Requirements

• Has experience teaching hand sewing to others
• Ability to navigate teaching environment with calm
• Confident in sketching as a way of drafting ideas

Nice to have (not required):
- Experience working with older adults and LGBTQ+ communities
- Interest in queer herstory and placekeeping
