We are seeking a full-time Project Director to oversee and lead a dynamic range of Strategy projects, including positioning and brand identity, strategic visioning, quantitative and qualitative research, audience development, and internal culture strategies.

The Project Director is an integral member of LaPlaca Cohen’s Strategy practice, a creative, rigorous, nimble team committed to bringing transformative, innovative, and actionable strategies to the creative sector. We work alongside corporate, philanthropic, and non-profit organizations to envision their greatest futures, find inventive solutions to their most pressing challenges, and develop programs and paradigms that will shape the future of culture.

The Project Director will report to the Strategy Director and will oversee the iterative work of a growing team of Strategists, Project Managers, and Fellows.

A typical week in this role looks like:
Reviewing a strategy deck and providing feedback to the project team that pushes strategic thinking to the next level, and that synthesizes research and insights into an easily digestible, actionable, and inspiring deliverable.
Co-facilitating an interactive work session over Zoom with a client to explore and build consensus around the organization’s values and core purpose.
Pitching our strategic visioning approach to the leadership and trustees of a prospective client, and fielding questions and feedback about our proposal.
Problem-solving a process roadblock and potential timeline delay with a project team, and communicating potential paths forward with the client.
Working with Project Managers to streamline and systematize project management practices for greater efficiency and client service.

Ideating on the future of culture and new approaches to our work in weekly Strategy Team meetings.
Representing LaPlaca Cohen at a virtual industry conference or event.

The salary range for this role is $75,000-90,000. Starting salaries are determined by the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity.

Requirements

Exceptional leadership, presentation, editing, writing, research, and communications skills.
8-10 years of full-time professional experience, with 4+ years of experience managing and/or overseeing the work of others in a collaborative team environment.

Passion for and/or experience in the needs of BIPOC audiences and BIPOC-serving nonprofit organizations.
Prior professional experience in the cultural and creative sector is a plus, including the business of entertainment, music, film, television, theater, public space, visual arts, architecture, and more.
Knowledge of Keynote, Excel, and Adobe InDesign is a plus.
Knowledge of project management approaches and tools is also a plus.

This is a full-time New York City based position (currently remote), with a September 2021 start date. This is currently a full-time remote position. However, preference will be given to applicants within transit or driving distance of our home base in New York City to allow for regular in-person meetings in the post-pandemic future.
