Founded in 1973 as Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, LMCC serves, connects, and makes space for artists and community. LMCC seeks a permanent full-time Program Manager, Artist Residencies. The Program Manager, Artist Residencies is an integral part of the Artist Services team and works closely with the Director of Artist Services in the design and execution of LMCC’s artist residency programs, including the integration and alignment with LMCC’s organizational initiatives and activities as they relate to artist residencies. This individual also represents LMCC in external partnerships on a regular basis.

Responsibilities include:
• Works closely with Director of Artist Services and other key staff on residency program development, strategy, and vision
• Manages administration and implementation of artist residency programs, including:
o Manages program-specific selection processes, including open call, nomination-based, and invitation-only
o Manages strategy and format for program participant intake and evaluations
o Acts as primary liaison for program participants, including intake, orientations, regular check-ins, fielding inquiries, tracking payments, and evaluation process
o Acts as primary liaison for program-specific contacts and partner organizations
o Develops and manages program-specific professional and creative development opportunities for program participants
o Co-designs and oversees year-round calendar of programming and space-use
• Ensures that the activities and programs of the department support the development of artists’ work, projects, and careers, with a focus on their varied creative practices, relative to the ever-changing conditions for artistic production and consumption
• Develops key performance indicators for programs, to be used in internal and external reporting, as well as program development by representing artist residencies in institutional efforts related to data tracking methods and processes
• Actively researches and evaluates new opportunities for artist residencies programming
• Integrates sustainable practices in artist residency programs in order to support LMCC’s initiative in developing a sustainable framework
• Works inter-departmentally on the planning and execution of public program events related to artist residencies
• Works inter-departmentally on space acquisition, facility maintenance, and contracting program participants
• Coordinates inter-departmentally on marketing and communications, proposals and final reports, including preparing documentation, qualitative information, and statistics
• Ensures current and comprehensive database for program tracking and contact management
• Generates innovative solutions to program challenges
• Other duties as assigned

The Program Manager, Artist Residencies reports to the Director of Artist Services and supervises a Program Associate as well as seasonal interns.

Requirements

Qualifications: Strong candidates for this position will have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Art History, Architecture & Urban Planning, Film, Theatre, New Media, Arts Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related fields
• Masters Degree in related fields preferred
• 3-5 years experience in the field; minimum of 1 year of supervisor experience
• Knowledge of contemporary visual, performing, and literary arts communities in NYC including curators, presenters, and other residency programs.
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain keen attention to detail.
• Ability to be graceful and diplomatic in maintaining various business relationships.
• Proficiency using Apple computers and with applications such as Adobe Creative Suite programs, Submittable, Salesforce and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
