The Architectural League of New York
594 Broadway, Suite 607
New York, NY 10012
The Architectural League, one of the country’s premier presenters of important work and ideas in architecture and urbanism, seeks a full-time Operations Coordinator to join its staff. As an integral member of the League team, the Operations Coordinator will help provide the organizational foundation for the League’s ambitious program of events, publications, and other projects that seek to create stimulating opportunities for the presentation and discussion of significant work; encourage the development of young designers; increase openness and inclusion in architecture; and address critical issues in the built environment, including climate change.
The Operations Coordinator’s responsibilities center on ensuring the smooth functioning of the League office and staff on a day-to-day basis, including managing technology; scheduling, organizing, and documenting staff and board meetings; and ensuring that all staff have the environment and tools they need to carry out their work. The Operations Coordinator is the primary liaison with the League’s landlord and with vendors, and manages the League’s relationship with its IT consultant and all software subscriptions. With the League’s transition to a great deal of online programming during the pandemic, the Operations Coordinator plays a major role in facilitating the use of presentation technologies, including ensuring that they are kept up to date and that their capacities are well understood by staff and outside program participants. Working with the executive director and other managers, the Operations Coordinator also plays an important role in human resources. The Operations Coordinator maintains up-to-date files of a variety of types of critical information for the League, including organizational policies.
The position requires a well-organized person with the capacity to juggle many tasks simultaneously, and strong attention to detail. The Operations Coordinator should enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people, including the staff, board, and members of the League, and others outside the organization. The job demands strong writing skills; ease with digital technologies; and willingness to learn new software as required. Demonstrated interest in architecture and cities is a strong plus. While the League staff is currently working remotely, we do anticipate returning to our office and therefore the Operations Coordinator must be located in, or willing to relocate to, the New York City region. We cannot pay relocation expenses. The salary range for this position is $45,000-$47,000, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance and paid time off (vacation, sick days, personal days). We strongly encourage people of color, LGBTQ individuals, people with disabilities, and others who may contribute to the diversity of perspectives on the League staff to apply.
