What is Open Performance?
A program of non-curated shared showings of experimentation and work-in-process, for artists at all stages of their development selected through a randomized lottery. The events are centered around a moderated discussion between the artists and audience providing an opportunity to experiment with different feedback methods to support and inform the artists’ process.
Spring 2026 Open Performance events will take place March-June 2026 at the Movement Research Studios at 122 Cultural Center. These events are donation based and open to the public.
Requirements
This Open Performance lottery entry form will close at 5:00pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Please note that the OP lottery process is done via Submittable. The first step of the submission process is to create a Submittable account, or sign into your existing account. When creating an account, you will be asked for your name, your email address, and a password of your choosing.
Individuals for whom access to an internet or wifi enabled device and/or a reliable Internet connection is not possible should contact Movement Research at (212) 598-0551 (voice only) for guidance.
For accessibility purposes, if you have issues accessing the application through Submittable, the application can be sent as an attachment by email. Acceptable file types: .doc, .docx, .pdf. Please note that the deadline for submitting the application as an attachment is the same as the deadline for submitting your application.
Open Performance artists are selected through a lottery system.
Open Performance events will take place in March, April, May, and June 2026 at the Movement Research Studios at 122 Cultural Center. These events are open to the public.
