Linh My Truong, a visual artist, is working on Threads of Passage: From Vietnam to America—an art exhibition in Detroit highlighting their family’s journey and the broader Vietnamese refugee experience. Truong is creating an interactive installation featuring stories from other Vietnamese refugees and has an open call for video submissions (deadline: April 7th). Share your family’s story! The opening of the exhibition will be in Detroit, but the exhibition will travel to other cities with Vietnamese populations.
Requirements
Linh My Truong welcomes stories from Vietnamese Americans from any state. Submissions can be video or audio-only up to 7 minutes long and can be from refugees themselves or their family members speaking on their behalf. Stories do not need to recount the journey from beginning to end. You may focus on a specific memory or person who impacted you during the journey. You may also speak of your experience resettling in America instead of the journey itself. Stories about people who fled Vietnam and are presumed missing or dead are also welcomed - these stories are as equally important to preserve and honor.Application Instructions
