Open Call for Residency at Governors Island

The NARS Foundation is pleased to announce its upcoming program on Governors Island to host four NY Based artists to do a 10 week residency at 404A Colonels Row, from August to October 2020.

The NARS Satellite Residency will provide a working space free of cost, and receive curatorial and project support, as well as networking opportunities through public viewings and Open Studios events. Besides having an active studio for work, the artists will be able to experiment, create and research new bodies of work and also use the space as an alternative exhibition site where they can keep finished works on display for public viewing, discussion, and critical feedback.

For NY Based Applicants ONLY

The current open call accepts applications from New York based artists for a 10 week residency at Governors Island.

All applications must be completed and submitted by April 20th 2020, 11:59 pm EST. Late submissions will not be accepted. Open but incomplete application forms and forms not accompanied by an application fee will not be processed.

The studio is a work-space only. Artists who need additional funding and support for travel costs, materials, and accommodations should apply to other sources.

IMPORTANT: Artists applying to this open call should take into account that the spaces are historical houses with no running water or working plumbing in the building. In accordance to this, we encourage applications from research-based and new media practices.

Requirements

ELIGIBILITY: The program is open to all NY based visual artists with an active professional practice of at least three years in the US. All information submitted on the application form, C.V. and support materials must be in English.

APPLICATION FEE: A non-refundable application fee of $30 (US) is required with each application. Payment must be submitted via credit card through the online application form payment system, for your submission to be complete. This fee covers basic administrative costs and will compensate juror(s).
