The Crocker Art Museum seeks an experienced and collaborative executive leader to serve as its next Mort and Marcy Friedman Director & CEO (Director). Today, the Crocker is one of the largest art museums in North America and a vibrant center of culture for California’s diverse Capital Region. The Museum offers an array of special exhibitions, events, and programs to augment its stellar collections of Californian, European, Asian, African, and Oceanic artworks, works on paper, and international ceramics. In a city of 500,000+ residents within a metro region of 2.2M, the Crocker draws an audience of nearly 190,000 annual visitors to its nearly 89,000 square feet of exhibition space.
Reporting to the board of co-trustees, Director will continue to advance the Crocker’s impact and legacy in Sacramento and increase its regional and national profile. The Director will lead the vision and serve as the public face of the Crocker, nurturing and expanding relationships with the City of Sacramento, Crocker Art Museum Association, community partners, donors, artists, stakeholders, and the field, while leading a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers within the Museum. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Crocker, including its administration, employees and volunteers, financial operations, fundraising, public profile, development and care of its collection, programming, related scholarship, long-range planning, and community engagement.

This is a permanent, full-time position in Sacramento with a targeted salary range of $375-425,000.
