The Peterborough Players, a 91-year-old professional theatre (AEA CORST “ZZ”) located in southern New Hampshire, is seeking applicants for the position of MANAGING DIRECTOR.

The Peterborough Players produces a traditional summer season of five to seven plays and often one musical, operating on a budget of slightly over one million dollars. The Players has presented a short “winter season” in its year round facility in past years.

The Managing Director oversees, implements and ensures the sustainability of the Theatre’s operations, programs, budgets, finances, and community support for the company while collaborating with the Artistic Director.

The Managing Director reports directly to the Board of Trustees alongside the Artistic Director and works with the Board of Trustees to ensure the programmatic and operational integrity, sustainability and excellence of the Theatre. The Managing Director is responsible for all non-equity staff, including: advancement, bookkeeping, marketing, and subcontractors, and any other administrative staff (either seasonal or year-round). The Managing Director ensures the structure of the education system for the interns. The Managing Director works closely with the facilities director to ensure the safety, beauty and efficiency of the physical plant. And the Managing Director negotiates contracts, files reports, manages disputes/conflicts, and serves as management liaison with all theatrical unions.

Please note: The theatre is concurrently seeking applicants for the position of Artistic Director. The search committee is open to considering applications from potential artistic director/managing director “teams”. Experience with the professional theatrical production process and 501©(3) organizations is required. We ask for a minimum commitment of three years. The Peterborough Players Theatre is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
