The lead male role in Philip Kan Gotanda’s “Both Eyes Open” a new music theater work about the psychological scars and current parallels of Japanese American internment during WWII, to premiere in June, 2022 at the Presidio Theater in San Francisco. Conductor - Ben Makino; Director - Missy Weaver; Writer-Philip Gotanda; Composer-Max Duykers; Choreo - Erika Chong Shuck; also featuring Joel Davel on Marimba Lumina, tenor John Duykers and soprano Kalean Ung; Produced by Paul Dresher Ensemble and First Look Sonoma; funded by National Park Service Japanese American Confinement Site Program & CA Humanities.

Requirements

Baritone or dramatic Tenor for Japanese American lead role of character, Jinzo Matsumoto in “Both Eyes Open”, looking for Asian American singer/actors experienced with new contemporary music and opera; Music Rehearsals for one week intensive months prior to opening -tbd ; Staging Rehearsals May/June 2022 all in Oakland, CA.
