Gotham Writers Manuscript-to-Market Fellowship
Gotham Writers' Workshop
New York, NY 10018
The Gotham “Manuscript-to-Market” Fellowship is open to people of color who have completed a book manuscript (or nonfiction book proposal) and are ready to go to market with their book. Three fellowships will be offered every year.
Each fellowship includes:
Admittance to the Gotham Writers Conference—the panels and presentations as well as a seat at a pitching roundtable with two agents in your genre.
The Gotham course How to Get Published or Nonfiction Book Proposal.
A one-on-one Agent Evaluation session and a Query Letter Coaching session, both with a literary agent.
The next Gotham Writers Conference happens October 16-18, 2020 on Zoom. Fellowship winners may attend this year’s conference, but if their project is not ready for this, they may attend the following year.
Acceptance is open to all people of color and based solely on the merit of your book project. At least one spot will be awarded to a Black applicant.
Once accepted, Gotham will do a consultation to determine the timing and arrangement of your fellowship.
The deadline for applications is midnight Eastern Time, September 8, 2020. Winners will be notified by September 21, 2020.
This fellowship does not guarantee that winners will get a book published, but it does help them get the best possible shot.
Please attach your query letter and first ten pages of either your manuscript or nonfiction book proposal as a single document to the link provided. You can also look at our Query Guidelines and Sample Query Letters for additional guidance.
