PROGRAM
Expand your technique, creative growth, repertory, and professional development in GALLIM’s one-week repertory intensive, January 3-7, 2022. During this comprehensive, 5-day intensive, dive into the technique, creativity, repertory and professional development led by GALLIM’s artists and methodology. Engage with fellow creatives through classwork, workshops, dialogues and Miller’s award winning repertory. There will also be an opportunity for a brown-bag lunch, during which students will have the chance to check in and chat directly with Artistic Director and choreographer Andrea Miller.

Begin each day with a GALLIM company class followed by a specialized methodology workshop to breakdown a specific area of technical skill building. After lunch, immerse yourself in GALLIM Repertory, including Andrea Miller’s two most recent premieres, sky to hold (not on pointe) for the New York City Ballet and Scavengers for The Martha Graham Dance Company. End the day with a specialized professional development or wellness-focused class taught by rotating guest artists, on topics including Pilates, performance studies, and career development.

GALLIM COMPANY CLASS is a practice of Miller’s technical and creative methodology which brings in influences from Gaga, Gyrotonic, Ilan Lev Method and ballet. The class develops students’ technical and creative growth through a guided conversation between the body’s network of systems and the imagination. After the morning class, the instructor will teach a 40 minute methodology breakdown of a specific skill studied in class.

REPERTORY offers students the opportunity to sink their teeth into some of GALLIM’s most challenging choreography. Repertory training at GALLIM focuses on advancing students’ technical skill while inspiring new growth in creativity and artistic expressivity as well as getting experience with a professional-like rehearsal setting. Students will participate in some compositional methods that Miller uses to build new material, learn solo and group sections and receive performance coaching . GALLIM’s 2021 Repertory Intensive will focusing on sky to hold, (not on pointe) choreographed for the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala and Scavengers, choreographed for the Martha Graham Company.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND WELLNESS classes are opportunities to expand your professional knowledge, skillset, and overall well-being guided by special guest teachers. Students can ask questions, hear from peers and professionals in the field and integrate the day’s work. Classes include Performance Studies, Pilates and the Ilan Lev Method.
