The Field’s Pilot Fiscal Sponsorship for Social Justice Arts Practitioners Program is a subsidized fiscal sponsorship membership with special benefits for individual artists and art collectives or organizations who identify as members of a historically underrepresented or marginalized group and whose creative work puts into practice and furthers values of social justice, equity, and inclusion in their communities. This is an opportunity for creatives and cultural workers of all disciplines and experience levels.

We are excited to launch this pilot program in Spring 2022 and will be assessing its effectiveness and design in future application rounds. If you have questions please reach out to Senior Artists Services Associate Kirsten Michelle Schnittker (they/them/theirs) at kirsten@thefield.org.

Requirements

Applicants are eligible if they:

  • Identify as a member of a historically underrepresented or marginalized group. The Field will prioritize self-identification.
  • Are a social justice arts practitioner or arts organization with a social justice mission and your values align with The Field’s committed values of justice, equity and inclusion: Disrupting all forms of oppression. De-centering whiteness. Centering artists of historically marginalized and underrepresented groups. Striving to disrupt the economic inequity that pervades our communities.
  • Make work that is artistic or artist-serving, and available to the public. This encompasses a variety of live and digital mediums including (but not limited to) podcasts, web series, literary publications and works, and the therapeutic and healing arts. The Field cannot sponsor artists/groups that are raising money solely for scholarships or tuition for educational programs.

Applicants are not eligible if they have already participated in the program. This is to ensure that we can offer this program to as many artists as possible.

If you are not accepted, you are welcome to reapply for the next round.

If you are currently a fiscally sponsored artist at The Field,

You are eligible to apply if your membership expires within 3 months of the application deadline (2/28/2022). You should wait until the next round if your expiration date is more than 3 months past the deadline. If you are accepted your subsidized year of fiscal sponsorship will begin at the end of your current membership.
