John Jasperse Projects seeks a dedicated part-time arts administrator for the position of Development Associate or Manager. The position will work closely with Artistic/Executive Director John Jasperse, to identify and manage funding opportunities that will support current and future performance projects. The position will respond to the changing climate in the field of contemporary dance and develop thoughtful strategies to cultivate organizational resilience. Creative flexibility in working within modestly resourced circumstances is a central requirement.
John Jasperse Projects/Thin Man Dance, Inc. is a non-profit production structure supporting the artistic work of choreographer John Jasperse. The organization’s primary focus is the presentation of live performances of contemporary dance; surrounding this, JJP engages in a broad range of residency activities in the U.S. and abroad. Jasperse sees the primary responsibility of the artist in society as that of inciting awakening, both in the artistic team through the process of creation and, in turn, in the audience, through their experience of performance. The core values of the work are centered in experimentation and the expansion of the field of dance as a performance form.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities
Develop all narrative texts and project/organization budgets for grant applications – with support John Jasperse
Manage calendar of application and final report deadlines
Develop all final reports
Research and report possibilities for additional grants/funding opportunities
Organize digital files on all grant materials
Execute and direct all fundraising mailings
Maintain, initiate and expand relationships with donors and follow up on pledge fulfillment’s throughout the year
Brainstorm and assist with board growth
Maintaining administrative systems and record keeping, overseeing JJP’s social media sites and website, and general admin duties
Brainstorm ideas around increased audience engagement
Support promotion of audience engagement events through drafting e-blasts, social media posts, and other relevant online platforms
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would is a clear communicator, detail-oriented, able to self-manage their time, and have a flexible, creative approach to problem solving. The candidate should have some experience in navigating the contemporary dance field and be interested in fundraising and grant writing. Experience managing government grants is a plus. Other relevant experience would include non-profit administrative experience, community outreach and tour/residency management.
Part-time, approximately 20-25 hours/month. Remote/flexible working schedule.
