Position Overview:

The Queens Museum seeks a Development Assistant to manage the day-to-day operations of and provide administrative support for the Museum’s Development Department. The Assistant will be responsible for updating and maintaining the donor database, drafting timely acknowledgement letters, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, processing gifts and memberships, conducting ongoing prospect research, managing donor lists for mailings and events, and assisting with external events and space rentals.

The Development Assistant reports to the Director of External Affairs, and works closely with the Institutional Giving Manager and the Individual Giving and Special Events Manager.

Essential Functions:

Manage donor database by updating donor records, recording and processing gifts and other income, and conducting regular audits of data
Run targeted queries and reports in service of fundraising campaigns and creating invitation lists
Draft timely acknowledgements for donors
Maintain proper donor crediting across exhibition and program collateral.
Provide administrative support to the Director of External Affairs
Provide support in staffing and coordination of donor engagement activities and events
Assist Individual Giving and Special Events Manager on annual fundraising events
Assist with large mailings and other fundraising campaigns and communications
Assist Institutional Giving Manager on preparation of grant proposals and reports
including document gathering and additional writing, when appropriate
Assist with planning and coordination of space rentals and other external special events.

Qualifications:
Education background in Art History or related field..
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising (internships acceptable).

Requirements:

Excellent writing and organizational skills required.
Ability to think creatively, synthesize information effectively, and tailor information to appeal to a broad spectrum of funder interests.
Experience with Veevart, Altru, eTapestry or other database management systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat
Availability to work onsite at the Queens Museum, and nights and weekends as required.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
