Position Overview:

The Institutional Giving Manager implements the Queens Museum’s institutional giving strategy by cultivating and stewarding new and existing relationships with private foundations and government agencies.

Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, the Institutional Giving Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 30-40 institutional funders with an eye towards increasing funding through increased gifts and the acquisition of new donors.

Responsibilities:

Determine funding needs, opportunities, and priorities through regular meetings with program staff
In collaboration with museum staff, write and prepare all funding proposals, reports, and other correspondence to foundations, corporate philanthropies, and government entities
Develop fresh language on grant materials and write copy for fundraising campaigns and promotional materials.
Research funding prospects and provide senior staff with research and background materials to support fundraising efforts.
Maintain all grant-related records in the donor database, including constituent records, gift and proposal entries, submission deadlines, and crediting information.
Compile and update statistics and information relating to grants.
Update files of fundraising materials including current budgets, IRS letters, audited financial statements, and information packets.
In partnership with the Director of External Affairs, cultivate and steward new and existing institutional donors
Database management including updating and maintenance of donor records and gift tracking

Qualifications:
Education background in Art History or related field, or its work experience equivalent in arts education and/or community development
Minimum 3 years of prior grant writing experience in the development department of a non-profit organization, ideally in the arts and/or education.

Requirements:
Excellent writing and organizational skills
Ability to think creatively, synthesize information effectively, and tailor information to appeal to a broad spectrum of funder interests.
Experience with eTapestry or other database management systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat
Availability to work onsite at the Queens Museum
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
