Position Overview:

The Queens Museum seeks an innovative Communications Coordinator with exceptional writing, editorial and design skills to support the QM’s communications and outreach strategy. Reporting to the Communications and Digital Content Manager, the Coordinator is a key collaborator who works closely with the QM’s content team to produce, schedule and monitor compelling stories across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The Coordinator is responsible for the creation of the QM’s digital design assets, monitoring social media accounts and analytics, and supporting the overall communications strategy and design needs of the QM. Successful candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for the QM’s programming; showcase a creative design portfolio and the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.

Essential Functions:

Write and create polished and compelling content for the QM’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Identify and create visuals across popular social media platforms
Monitor and interact with the Museum’s communities across social channels
Work closely with the Communications Team to execute a social media growth strategy to expand the Museum’s digital reach and grow awareness.
Track and report social media activity to inform data-driven decision-making
Maintain cross-platform and platform-specific editorial calendar for social media content
Collaborate with QM colleagues to ensure a consistent voice and visual identity
Assist the Communications and Digital Content Manager in updating and editing the QM’s website
Co-produce, edit and proofread the QMs digital newsletter
Organize and archive the QM’s visual assets according to the department guidelines
Create public-facing and internal-facing graphic design assets; adhere to design brand guidelines and project deadlines
Coordinate press materials and events as needed
Provide general administrative support for the Communications department

Qualifications:

Prior work experience in digital, editorial and/or social media writing or strategy
Educational background in Marketing, Communications, Advertising or a related field of study and/or its work experience equivalent
Understanding of digital audience expectations and social-first storytelling.
Prior analytics experience using Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and Sprout Social
A strong creative instinct and point of view

Requirements:

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to oversee projects from conception to delivery.
Proficient Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign for the creation and formatting of digital assets.
Proficiency with Windows and Google Workspace Applications
