Blank Forms seeks a full-time Curatorial Assistant to work with the Artistic Director and Managing Editor in the production, administration, and execution of exhibitions, public programs, and our imprint’s publications. This is an outward facing position that interfaces with audiences, artists, key vendors, and our board of directors. The role requires the ability to manage and liaise across projects, and a high level of professionalism is necessary at all times. The primary responsibilities of this position include and are not limited to:

  • Supports the team in daily administrative operations as well as for events, live programs, and exhibitions
  • Writes, edits, and assists in the production of program-related materials, including copy for fundraising, communications, and internal functions
  • Works with the Artistic Director to support exhibition and program development at all stages by conducting basic research; creating checklists, loan forms, and budgets; and requesting rights and permissions
  • Works with the Artistic Director and Managing Editor to support the production of publications at all stages, including research and copyediting as requested
  • Develops, coordinates, and manages content across social platforms, website, and email marketing
  • Oversees and arranges travel, housing, and venue rentals for programs as requested
  • Prepares narratives and copy for grants as requested
  • Manages interns and support staff involved in the production of commissions and projects
  • Generates and contributes ideas for Blank Forms and Blank Forms Editions programs and publications
  • Keeps informed of scholarship, exhibitions, and events in relevant artistic disciplines through sustained personal research, gallery and museum visits, publications, etc., and makes recommendations to senior staff

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary range is between $50,000 - $60,000, and a performance-based salary increase will be evaluated at 12 months employment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience working for nonprofit arts organization or related experience
  • Proven expertise in program planning, managing, and execution; research capabilities; fundraising and donor cultivation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstration of a broad knowledge of emerging and underrepresented artists in local, national and international contexts as well as a strong interest in sound art, experimental music, and performance
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented; able to plan strategically, wear multiple hats, handle sensitive information, set priorities, and focus on details and follow through
  • An effective team member who possesses initiative, creativity, and energy, with outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional judgment, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive situations and matters
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Wordpress, and Mailchimp
  • Web development experience a plus, audio and video editing skills a plus
