ISPA, the International Society for the Performing Arts, is a global association of arts management leaders, who come together with the shared goal of strengthening the arts internationally by building leadership ability; recognizing and discussing field-wide trends and new developments, and deepening global exchange through the arts. We achieve this through professional congresses, leadership development programs, resource sharing, and online exchange.

Position and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Membership and Events (MME), the Communications and Events Lead (CEL) is responsible for providing support services to the MME as well as other team members in the organization. Three major areas of responsibility include developing and executing communications strategies, event registration processes, and information technology and data administration. Specific responsibilities (not exclusive) include:

Communications

ISPA is a global network of performing arts leaders representing over 60 different regions of the globe. Central to this position is ongoing and effective communications with various audience constituents, which includes members, congress delegates, industry professionals, media, and the general public. CEL is responsible for day-to-day management of all communications needs, including email marketing, social media, and management of website:

• Develop and implement a communications strategy; create, design and maintain content for all of ISPA’s communication channels
• Develop and implement social media strategies; create and maintain content for ISPA’s social media platforms
• Lead in the management of ISPA’s website and CRM system (YourMembership.com) and propose strategies to increase the utilization of online platforms
• Maintain and update website on an ongoing basis
• Analyze metrics and analytics across all communication channels and regularly report about the communication performance
• Respond to requests for support and information from all customers including ISPA members

Event Support

ISPA holds an annual Congress in January in New York City and an International Congress sometime between April and July. Working with the MME, this position provides important support to advance all events and produce the congresses:

• Coordinate and implement the online and subsequent on-site registration process including responding to registration inquires and processing registrations in the organization’s CRM system
• Generate congress registration revenue dashboard and report regularly
• Oversee coordination for transporting materials, setup/strike of registration area at multiple venues, and acting as a front line ambassador for all things registration and check-in related for the New York Congresses
• Coordinate registration wrap-up including final processing of onsite registrations and other wrap-up duties as assigned

Information Technology and Data Administration

In addition to the responsibilities above related to communications and event support, the CEL will support the MME in overseeing ISPA’s use of information technology and data administration including:

• Maintaining existing network and computer systems and recommending upgrades as necessary and appropriate
• Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems policy and procedures
• Ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems.
• Audit systems and assess their outcomes for potential risk areas
• Oversee all troubleshooting with individual technology (phones, computers, etc.)
• Stay current with CRM (customer relationship management) system and provide necessary updates or training to the office staff
• Evaluate workflow design and troubleshoot issues involving CRM
• Ensure data integrity of the CRM database

Qualifications and Skills
• A diploma or related university degree
• Three years’ experience in this or a related role
• Superior verbal and written communications skills
• Experience and proven track record with strategic communications
• Ability to work in HTML and CSS language and edit content through coding
• Extremely efficient and organized with a keen attention to detail
• Excellent multi-tasking abilities
• Ability to provide insightful written analysis of measured data
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Experience with content and customer relationship management systems (ISPA uses Your Membership “YM”)
• Experience with Google Analytics, Adobe Photoshop or other graphic design and multimedia program desired
• Fluency or conversational skills in a second language desired
• Work well in a team environment where a small staff is responsible for a variety of tasks and initiatives
• A demonstrated appreciation and knowledge of the performing arts in a global environment

Location: Manhattan with some travel. Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
