Keepsake House is a home for independent artists to share the stage and make music with meaning. They are welcoming applications from Songwriters and Storytellers to be part of our 2024 season’s roundtable shows, connect with diverse artists and engaging audiences, and gain support from us and each other.
As a Resident, you will:
- Be a part of at least three roundtable-style shows for the season (January-October 2024) at venues across New York City, including at least one show each at City Winery.
- Perform & converse alongside artists in the NYC community and reach new, respectful, and attentive audiences.
- Have first dibs to perform at monthly Open Mics and the opportunity to host an entire Open Mic show.
- Get inspired by artists outside of your creative medium and create original stories and songs that will be shared at our annual end-of-residency show, From Story to Song.
- Receive a stipend upwards of $600 for Songwriters and $300 for Storytellers. This base stipend is guaranteed (assuming completion of the residency), and we hope to provide even more depending on available funding and sponsorship opportunities.
Requirements
All artists must be available in person in NYC for at least three shows during the season, which are scheduled to fall within the dates below (note that show dates are subject to change):
-Mid-January 2024 (date to be booked as soon as possible)
-One of the City Winery shows in early-mid March, June, or September
-Mid-October for From Story to Song
While they do not require artists to be NYC residents, they do prefer local acts and cannot guarantee coverage of any travel costs.
For Songwriters:
They are seeking independent singer/songwriters who have live performance experience and are able to perform in a small, in the round setting (i.e. a solo artist who plays their own instrument). Artists should also have shown to support and uplift community. Open to all genres. A live video example (or invitation to attend an upcoming live performance) is required for Songwriters to be considered.
For Storytellers:
They are open to writers, actors, comedians, filmmakers, small business owners––anyone who makes art, has a story, and wants to share it. Preferably a Storyteller who has experience performing their work live / public speaking with an audience.
