ThoughtLuck
5 – 6:30PM
In recent weeks, it has been heartening to see affirmations of solidarity on a global scale. The acknowledgment that systemic injustices plague society is a crucial first step. But what happens next?
Asian Musical Voices of America wants to keep the embers of this heated moment, allowing the slow burn to fuel and sustain dialogue and action aimed toward dismantling white supremacy, building cross-cultural understanding, and reshaping the field. To this end, they are hosting their first ThoughtLuck next Saturday, June 13, at 5:00 pm-6:30 pm EDT. ThoughtLuck is a space for discussion, sharing, and listening. The conversations will be centered on the experiences of those who self-identify as Asian American in the bubble of Western classical music—unwrapping issues of identity, racism, cultural politics, social justice, artistic freedom, etc.. There is so much to talk about, learn, and do.
The framework of ThoughtLuck looks like that of a dinner party. Participants can contribute readings, videos, podcasts, music, discussion topics, and other food for thought to the “meal,” any time before June 13. The theme for the first session is “White Silence, White Noise.“
Please sign up here if you are interested in joining the conversation. The event is open to everyone.
