Think!Chinatown + Vietnamese Boat People are calling for stories!
10 – 1PM
Think!Chinatown is looking for people with stories of fleeing Vietnam to escape hardship after the Vietnam War and have made connections to Manhattan Chinatown. Have you heard these stories from family members or loved ones, or lived this experience yourself?
Location and Dates:
T!C is bringing back community recording days to build a brand new Manhattan Chinatown collection on VBP’s digital Journeys Map. They invite you to bring your family, friends, & neighbors to record a 40-minute oral history interview together on April 18, to Think!Chinatown’s Studio located at 1 Pike Street (at Division St), New York, NY 10002.
Details:
The T!C Story Team will guide you through the process of preparing, interviewing, and recording your interview. Through these recordings, projects emerge. For instance, a story may be selected to be a part of T!C’s Storytelling projects such as the Art of Storytelling or Landmarks. Bringing together art and storytelling, this project challenges us to reimagine how we collectively remember, honor, and share the stories of local communities. Each storyteller will also receive a raw copy of their recording as a keepsake.
