May 6, some of the best undiscovered classical musicians around New York City competed live in The Greene Space at WQXR for the station’s first-ever classical music competition for amateurs. A panel of celebrity judges—pianist Alessio Bax, Brentano String Quartet cellist Nina Lee, and Roomful of Teeth founding member Dashon Burton—chose the three grand-prize winners in each category: The Memianni Piano Trio (13–18 age group), vocalist Sarah Lucero (19–34 age group), and the Violas of Camerata Notturna (35+ age group). Hear why they were chosen at this live performance hosted by WQXR’s Elliott Forrest.
Presented in collaboration with WQXR.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
