The Kathak Legacy Project Summer Immersion 2026

The Kathak Legacy Project by Rachna Nivas presents its Summer Immersion 2026, an in-person two-week kathak intensive in New York City for students ages 16 and up.

Directed by acclaimed kathak artist and educator Rachna Nivas, the program offers rigorous training in kathak technique, taal, rhythm and mathematics, abhinaya, storytelling, live musical accompaniment, and foundational North Indian classical music.

Now in its eighth year, the immersion is designed for dancers seeking focused training, cultural context, discipline, and a deeper relationship to kathak as a living classical tradition. Students are grouped by level and experience and study within a lineage-rooted curriculum connected to the teachings of legendary master Pandit Chitresh Das.
