Staying Safer Series: A Two-Part Series for the Asian Nonprofit Community. May 28th + June 4th

During these uncertain times it is all too common for tension, stress and conflict to increase both in our homes and in our communities. In our homes, we are seeing increasing rates of domestic and family violence. In our communities, we are experiencing rising numbers of incidents of anti-Asian racism and xenophobia.

Nonviolent Communication (Part I) | May 28, 3-5pm

In the first part of this two-part training series, participants will examine and reflect on common communication practices that fuel conflict across power dynamics and how we can use non-violent communication (NCV) to transform those modes of communication using compassion and empathy.

Through a presentation and interactive break-out groups, participants will explore the different components of NCV and practice using NCV in different scenarios relevant to what our community is experiencing during these times. At the end of the session, participants will walk away equipped with several verbal and emotional techniques and strategies they can use to connect with their clients and empower them to care for and protect themselves.
