Removal, Resistance, Resettlement: Japanese American Incarceration to Modern Day Detention in NYC New York Day of Remembrance 2023
Saturday, February 18, 2023
1 – 2:30PM
1 – 2:30PM
Join the New York Day of Remembrance Committee in honoring our families and communities with a program focused on the legacy of our past and how it connects to the present. For their program this year, they honor born and raised New Yorker Suki Terada Ports!
Additionally, at a time when thousands of migrants have been bused to NYC, the New York Day of Remembrance Committee (NYDOR) and Tsuru for Solidarity want to highlight parallels between the surveillance, mass incarceration, and deportations of Japanese Americans during WWII and the experience and treatment of migrants of color arriving in the U.S. today.
