Proceeds from this event benefit 501©(3) non-profit organization Roots of Health, a reproductive healthcare organization in the Philippines that empowers women to take charge of their bodies by providing them with free clinical services and reproductive health education.
ABOUT RAISED PINAY:
Raised Pinay - founded by Jana Lynne (JL) Umipig, Rachelle Peraz Ocampo, and Justine Ang Fonte - aims to uplift the stories of Pinay women from all walks of life while raising funds for reproductive health. This year’s Raised Pinay has a unique focus on motherhood - with stories being shared by a cast of 8 intergenerational Pinay mothers - re-membering, exploring, and surfacing stories of the lived experiences and the legacies of mothering.
The cast participates in an embodied storytelling process, resulting in this shared expression that interweaves their stories through monologues, dialogues, poetry, visual art, songs, and movement.
These gatherings are not merely “performances.” They are ceremony, where mothers will be witnessed with the intention to create healing for the self while fostering transnational communality between Filipinas in the diaspora and in the Philippines by benefiting Roots of Health.
