Queensboro Dance Festival 2020

October 3 – October 5, 2020
6PM

After a full summer tour of virtual performances and classes, the 2020 Queensboro Dance Festival (QDF) will culminate October 3-5, 6:00PM with a broadcast of performances by all 24 Queens-based dance companies over the 3-night run. In keeping tradition with previous seasons, QDF’s closing weekend will be presented in partnership with Queens Theatre, with this year being a virtual broadcast on Queens Theatre’s YouTube channel, QDF’s YouTube channel, as well as Queens Theatre and Queensboro Dance Festival websites.

Each evening will feature a completely different program of dance performances, so audiences can tune into each show and experience each of the 24 Queens-based dance companies who toured in the festival since May. Dance cultures represented include Hula, Tap, Modern, Bellydance, Hip-Hop, Flamenco, West African, Cumbia, Kathak, Street Jazz, Greek, Ballroom, and Chinese. Each show will also have a live audience interactive Q&A segment with the choreographers, who will also share their experiences as dancers during quarantine and COVID times. Many of the danceworks premiering have been created, inspired by, or rehearsed virtually in quarantine.

The weekend of culminating performances marks the close of the 2020 Queensboro Dance Festival, which launched back in May as a virtual tour of Instagram Live sessions with each dance company in their home neighborhoods across Queens. As regulations slightly eased into autumn, the festival transitioned into presenting a short run of live outdoor performances for virtual audiences, with a limited number of the dance groups.
