Print Pals: Guest Stop Woodblock Printing Workshop

Saturday, December 20, 2025

Print Pals is excited to host a woodcarving workshop in collaboration with the exhibition A Story That Lives Within US: Ada’s Artwork, featuring Guest Stop (In Transit), a gallery installation by Munus Shih and Yalan Wen exploring the Hakka diaspora in Taiwan. Inspired by Guest Stop’s pieces about home and identity, our workshop invites you to explore a memory of a time you left home. Why did you leave? What challenges did you face? How long did it take to call this new place home?

After delving into these questions, you will be taught how to carve a woodblock piece that captures your reflections. Then collectively print our pieces on a fabric curtain, which will ultimately be part of the Guest Stop installation. Any and all participants who are interested in deepening their understanding of Hakka culture, unpacking questions about home, and/or learning woodcarving as a new medium are welcome.
