Open Kimono: Pixy Liao, Angela Wei, and Grace Noh

Tuesday, July 27, 2021
7 – 8PM

Please join A4 and Fotografiska NY for this second talk in a series of conversations foregrounding Pixy Liao’s work as brand and identity creation in the age of digital media.

Artist Pixy Liao will be joined by Angela Wei, Managing Director of Milk and Grace Noh, Exhibitions Manager of Fotografiska to discuss creating a personal brand or identity in the age of digital media. What we choose to reveal or hide shapes our public persona and possibly how we see ourselves. The title of this talk, Open Kimono, like Pixy’s work, draws attention to and reimagines the racist business phrase which refers to the concept of revealing inner workings or sharing important information. Pixy Liao, in discussion with Angela Wei and Grace Noh, will discuss how she playfully crafts her persona using staged portraiture, visual branding, and even her chosen artist name “Pixy” to subvert gender norms and create an alter ego.

A4 community members receive a 10% discount on tickets with code: AAAA. Apply at checkout.
Tickets include regular museum admission.
